Ripped Away. Mixed Media
At 11" x 14" with a 1" profile, this mixed media piece packs a lot of punch.
When we lose something--anything from a beloved dog to a person who was close to us--we feel that time has cheated us.
We were ripped away the time so precious to us to be together.
The butterfly signifies the presence of the soul of the something/someone who has gone onto heaven.
Even though the living are left with the pain of being cheated; that time was ripped away from us because of an unfortunate happening, something or someone has moved on to a better place.
Rich crimson red set against aztec gold and black. Tissue paper has been molded with gel medium, dried, and then molding paste placed in certain areas of the piece to provide more depth, creases, and rips.
Chipboard for the time pieces, cogs and butterfly were gesso'd and painted with acrylic.
